NEW: I “Was a Prisoner of War!” Catalogue
08.05.2026The new “I Was a Prisoner of War!” catalogue is now available!
In 2024, retired curator and one of the museum’s founders, Željko Cimprič, prepared the remarkable temporary exhibition “I Was a Prisoner of War!” With these words, hundreds of thousands of former soldiers began telling their stories about their experiences during the First World War. Through personal testimonies, the exhibition highlights the fate of millions of prisoners of war, who are often overlooked in historical memory.
Due to the exceptional interest in the exhibition, which was on display at the Kobarid Museum from October 2024 to October 2025, we decided to publish a catalogue. Across 120 pages, it presents the stories of prisoners of war. The catalogue has been published in four languages (Slovene, Italian, German, and English) and is already available in the museum shop. The publication of the catalogue was co-financed by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Slovenia.
